The Detroit Chapter of the American Payroll Association is a non-profit professional organization dedicated to providing educational, communication, and networking opportunities for payroll professionals in Detroit and Southeastern Michigan since 1985.
The Detroit Chapter of the American Payroll Association was organized in 1985. The Chapter has been hosting several meetings per year since that time. We organized the first Michigan Statewide Conference in 1989. We have twice received "honorable mention" in the APA's Chapter of the Year recognition. In 1997 Detroit became the second APA Chapter to have a web site. The website was completely redesigned in 2007 and again in 2010.

In conjunction with Schoolcraft College, the Chapter conducts an annual CPP preparation class. In addition, most Chapter meetings are certified for Recertification Credit Hours (RCHs) . These credits accumulate towards renewal of FPC or CPP certification.
